Atoms of metallic materials are connected by a metal bond that ensures a high modulus of elasticity and strenght of the metal materials. Irregularities found in crystal structure usually aid the process of plastic deformation, difussion or hardening. And the size of the crystal has a great influence on the strenght and hardness, while the shape of the crystal affects the direction of these properties. While the crystal size is regulated by crystalization rate and the number of nuclei, the shape is regulated by the direction and manner of heat dissipation during solidification. Metals as pure metals are not often used in practice and are not obtain during production, at least not cheaply. They alredy contain a small portion of impurities and are alloyd with other elements to improve the required properties and reduce the bad ones. While there area large number of metals and alloys, the paper contains the most common used and ones with special properties.
