Abstract
Prijenos podataka putem elektroenergetske mreže (engl. Powerline communinications) – PLC je relativno nov oblik elektroničke komunikacijske tehnike između širokog spektra trenutno prisutnih konvencionalnih tehnologija lokalnog umrežavanja i umrežavanja na širem geografskom području. Postoje četiri glavne, osnovne vrste PLC sustava: 1. Uskopojasni sustavi unutar objekta 2. Pristupni uskopojasni sustavi (izvan objekta) 3. Širokopojasni sustavi unutar objekta 4. Pristupni širokopojasni sustavi (izvan objekta), također označavani kraticom BPL (engl. Broadband over Power lines) U prošlosti je pokušaj prijenosa podataka pomoću elektroenergetskih vodova bio težak izazov za inženjere zbog električnih uvjeta u samom mediju (el. vodovima). Ali sa razvitkom novih OSI slojeva MAC i PHY koji su sposobni prebroditi teške uvjete, novi standardi mogu jamčiti kvalitetu usluge (QoS) unutar zadovoljavajuće razine. Na kraju, može se reći da budućnost PLC tehnologije leži pretežno u kućnom umrežavanju više nego u njenoj upotrebi kao zamjeni za klasične metode dostave telekomunikacijskih usluga prvenstveno zbog radio smetnji koje PLC (BPL) tehnologija može izazvati.
Abstract (english)
Powerline communications (PLC) are a relatively new form of electronic communication technique among the broad set of currently present conventional local and wide area networking technologies. There are four main, basic types of PLC systems: 1. In-Home narrowband systems 2. Access narrowband systems 3. In-Home broadband systems 4. Access broadband systems (also called BPL – Broadband over power lines systems) Over the past the attempt to transfer data via the powerlines was a difficult challenge for engineers because of the electrical conditions in medium itself. But with development of new OSI layers MAC and PHY which are now capable to overcome harsh conditions, new standards can guarantee Quality of Service (QoS) within satisfactory level. In conclusion, it can be said that the future of PLC lies mostly in the home networking rather than in its use as a last mile supplement for classic telecommunication service delivery methods in the first place because of radio interference which PLC (BPL) systems can generate.
