As introduction to the thermal power plant project, first were explained the Clasius-Rankine steam cycle and the history of steam equipment. Following, parts of a thermal power plant were listed and also described. Their purpose and construction was elaborated. Considering that thermal power plant project is based on the project of Rijeka thermal power plant, its parts were described and their technical data was given. The main difference between two projects of power plants is the number of regenerative feed water heaters. In thermal power plant Rijeka, the first two steam subtractions are used for four high pressure feed water heaters (two in parallel), the other two subtractions are used for four medium pressure feed water heaters (also two in parallel) and three more steam subtractions are used for three low pressure feed water heaters. In the calculated project, first two steam subtractions are used for two high pressure feed water heaters and the other two are on the low pressure part of the turbine for one deareator and one low pressure feed water heater. Calculation of thermal power plant includes the energy balance of the power plant, steam generator heat balance, emission of exhaust gases and the dimensioning of the steam heat exchanger.
