A small Internet of Things Embedded System has been made which notifies about a possible gas leakage danger. The device sends an activation e-mail to the defined e-mail adresses when the device is firstly powered on with the IP address and port needed to access the web interface hosted on the device. In the same way, an e-mail is sent when some sort of dangerous gas is detected. The e-mails won’t be sent in continuity but only once per detection session, thus we are avoiding spam. Also, it’s possible to stop and start (pause and resume) the e-mail sending through the web interface. While the gas is detected an active buzzer activates to serve as a sound alarm, which can be also turned off and on through the web interface. Every detection session is written in a log file named log.txt with the date and time of detection. Also, it’s made possible through the web interface to add or delete an e-mail from the list of e-mails to which are e-mail alarms sent. The web interface also serves for checking the current status, ie. if there is an active session of gas detection and also to view the log of previous alarms.
