The aim of this paper was to design a reconfigurable stand for optical measurements, but also to show the importance of designing this product according to design for assembly guidelines, as a prerequisite for designing an efficient assembly line, or an efficient assembly process. In the first part of the paper, reconfigurable manufacturing systems and equipment were described, as well as their main features. Furthermore, in this part the problems that arise when designing an assembly line were presented, and the design guidelines for assembly that need to be followed when designing a product were described. In the second part of the paper, a detailed procedure of reconfigurable stand for optical measurements design was presented, for the needs of which the computer program Solidworks was used. Upon completion of the design, an analysis of the suitability of the product for assembly was performed. This was followed by the design of the optimal manual system for the assembly of this product, which involved: calculating the required number of workstations, determining the material storage system, dividing the product assembly process into operations, and then allocating these operations to workstations respecting the links between operations. Finally, for each operation, an assembly plan was made in which a detailed sketch of the procedure is presented for each step, as well as a list of necessary parts and tools.
