This project deals with the process of constructing a machine element or in other words, a shaft. The design of the shaft takes place through several phases, all starting with the consideration and understanding of the construction task. After understanding the task, it starts with the concept phase, in which the approximate appearance of the machine elements is roughly determined and the positions of the other elements that are to be connected to the shaft are predicted. At the end of the design phase, the second phase focuses on determining the dimensions of the machine element on the basis of the previously conceived concepts, and also specifying the material and the type of bearings on the shaft. All the above parameters are determined on the basis of both the mechanical and other impacts on the machine element that are expected to operate during the exploitation. When the dimensions and machine elements of the shaft are determined, then in the construction phase the main task is calculating the resistance of the machine element to the plastic deformation and fatigue of the material in previously determined critical cross-sections. When all of the above mentioned phases have been successfully performed, a worksheet is made and then the machine element is ready to start the production phase wich results with exploatation.
