The second chapter describes the induction motor, two basic versions are listed, the ring and the squirrel cage induction motor. Principle of operation is briefly explained, what happens to the rotating field and the currents in the motor windings when the stator is connected to the power supply with the rotor windings open and closed. The third chapter describes and graphically shows the current and torque changes of an induction motor from standstill to synchronous speed. From the current graph it is noticeable that the starting current of the electric motor is 5 - 7 times higher than its rated current. The fourth chapter deals with the problem of starting, that is, pulling large pull currents and giving the network an undesirable electric shock. A solution that reduces the high value of the starting current is given, this solution has different variants, each variant has its advantages and disadvantages. Chapter five explains which motor can be started using the star-delta starter. If we are talking about a standard line voltage of 400 V, then any motor marked 400/690 - ∆ / Y can be started using a star – delta starter. The star-delta starter is completely connected with his components, and each connection of a particular component is gradually commented on. In the sixth chapter, each component of the star-delta starter is briefly described, the method of connection is explained, and connection diagrams are given.
