The topic of this work is optimization of engine "Husqvarna T610" for the specific Formula Student competition, which aims to design and produce a car by a properly defined technical rules. The introduction describes disciplines and tests on which the car will be tested, in accordance with the provisions of the regulation of designing Formula Student car. Prior to the mechanical preparation of the engine, the OptimumLap software was used, which allows simpler dynamic simulation of the vehicle, from which the conditions for the car to be prepared can be foreseen. The simulation in the AVL Boost software was used to prepare the engine itself, or to define the parameters of the engine, that will be the most appropriate under these demanding race conditions. After the simulations carried out through these programs, the engine was tested on the hydraulic dynamometer at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture in Zagreb, where it was finally mapped and tuned for competing on the Formula Student tests. It is always good, if appropriate programs are available, to simulate a particular action, load, or requirement for a particular machine or engine prior to the project itself, as this makes it easier and less expensive to prepare and optimize the engine to run properly from the beginning.
